Ms. Opus is the mother of Opus the Penguin. In many Bloom County strips, he is searching for her. She was thought to have died in the Falklands War until it was discoverd that she was being tested on in a cosmetics lab. However, they had to part ways during a shootout between the Mary Kay Commandos and the Animal Liberation Front. When Bloom County ended, he didn't want to go into Outland with Roanald-Ann Smith and found his mother in Antarctica.
